Harmless as a Dove, Wise as a Serpent

Matthew 10:16 KJV Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves.
In this message we learn what it means to be as harmless as a dove and as wise as a serpent. The prophet teaches that we should be harmless towards ourselves, other people, the church, and the kingdom of God. The example of the Madman of Gadara from Mark 5 and Luke 8 is given to explain how we should not be harmful towards ourselves. The prophet also teaches us what we need to master in order to become wise like a serpent.

Ephesians 4:1-2 KJV I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called, 2 With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love;
In this episode, we learn that true thankfulness comes from the ability to be humble. True humility is stemmed from aspects such as listening to warnings from pastors, understanding that past achievements are acquired with the help of others, making sure the church and pastors are left out of criticisms, and learning from the past mistakes of our parents.
When we are thankful, we are able to achieve great things. In John 6 and 11 of the New Testament, we see the examples of Jesus praying in thankfulness to multiply the food for the multitude and to raise the dead. As we aim to live life as Jesus did, we must also take his thankfulness and humility into account to effectively live as he did.
